Registration Terms and Conditions

Substitutions, Changes, Cancellation and Refund Policies

Substitutions and Changes: Substitutions and changes to registration can be made up until 11:59pm EST on April 19, 2010, which is five business days prior to the start of the Wireless Enterprise Symposium 2010 ("WES" or "Conference"). Substitutions for individuals registered to attend WES, BlackBerry Alliance Summit, and/or any associated ancillary event (each, a "WES Event", collectively, "WES Events") must be made in writing and sent to the Registrar by e-mail at regsvc@themeetingsourceinc.com no later than 11:59pm EST on April 19, 2010. Registrants of WES and/or any WES Events and Companion Pass holders (collectively, "Registrants") cannot "share" a Conference pass.

Cancellations and No-Shows: Cancellations for any WES Event must be made in writing and sent to the Registrar by e-mail at regsvc@themeetingsourceinc.com no later than 11:59pm EST on April 5, 2010 to receive a refund of the applicable portion of the fee. All Conference cancellations made on or before 11:59pm EST on April 5, 2010, are subject to a cancellation fee of US$100.00. There will be no refunds for cancellations received after 11:59pm EST on April 5, 2010. Registrants who have not cancelled on or before 11:59pm EST on April 5, 2010 will be liable for the full registration fee, and must pay any outstanding balance within 30 business days of date of invoice.
In case of transmission difficulties or other technical problems related to registration or emailed written notification to the Registrar, please call Registration Services at 1-877-645-9324 or email regsvc@themeetingsourceinc.com to notify the Registrar.
The Research In Motion Limited ("RIM") server or designated timekeeper shall be the official timekeeper for the purposes of determining the timing of any registration or notification.

Conference Fees and Deadlines

Passes

WES Full Conference Pass:

The WES Full Conference Pass rate is US$1999.00 ("Full Conference Fee").

WES Full Conference Pass Holders (each, a "Full Conference Registrant", collectively, "Full Conference Registrants") are entitled participate in the following:

  • WES Keynotes
  • WES Breakout Sessions and Demo Theater
  • Welcome Reception in the Solutions Showcase (Monday evening, April 26, 2010)
  • WES 2010 Party
  • Solutions Showcase and Ask The Experts during open hours (Tuesday, April 27-Thursday, April 29, 2010)
  • Breakfast, breaks and lunch (Tuesday, April 27 – Thursday, April 29, 2010)
  • WES Lounge
  • Complimentary access to Wi-Fi® internet in the conference center
  • Access to most session presentations in PDF format plus most presentations in MP3 format
  • Access to the Virtual Conference Site (defined below) until November 30, 2010
  • Receipt of registration gift upon check-in onsite

For avoidance of doubt, WES Full Conference Passes do not include access to the BlackBerry Alliance Summit and/or certain ancillary events, all of which must be purchased separately. Attendance at Global Channel Summit is restricted to Full Conference Registrants who are employees of RIM Channel Partners, as determined at RIM's sole discretion.

Full Conference Pass Discounts

  • Early Bird Discount: Full Conference Registrants, including Alumni-rate Full Conference Registrants, who register for WES by 11:59pm EST on February 16, 2010 are eligible to receive a US$400.00 Early Bird discount off the WES Full Conference Pass rate.
  • Special Rate Discount: Full Conference Registrants, including Alumni-rate Full Conference Registrants, who register for WES between 12:00am EST on February 20, 2010 and 11:59 pm EST on March 26, 2010, are eligible to receive a Special Rate discount of US$200.00 off the WES Full Conference Pass rate.

Note: Early Bird and Special Rate discounts will be forfeited if payment in full or an official purchase order document are not received by 11:59pm EST on April 19, 2010.

WES Executive Conference Pass:

The WES Executive Conference Pass rate is US$899.00 ("Executive Conference Fee").

WES Executive Conference Pass Holders (each, an "Executive Conference Registrant", collectively, "Executive Conference Registrants") are entitled participate in the following:

  • WES Keynotes on Tuesday, April 27, and Wednesday April 28, 2010 only
  • Selected breakout sessions in the "Mobility as a Business Driver"
  • Welcome Reception in the Solutions Showcase (Monday evening, April 26, 2010)
  • WES 2010 Party
  • Solutions Showcase and Ask The Experts during open hours (until 2pm on both Tuesday, April 27 and Wednesday, April 28, 2010)
  • Breakfast, breaks and lunch (Tuesday, April 27 and Wednesday April 28, 2010)
  • WES Lounge (Tuesday, April 27 and Wednesday April 28, 2010)
  • Complimentary access to Wi-Fi® internet in the conference center
  • Access to selected session presentations in the "Mobility as a Business Driver" track in PDF format plus selected presentations in MP3 format
  • Access to the Virtual Conference Site until November 30, 2010
  • Receipt of registration gift upon check-in onsite

Executive Conference Registrants may upgrade to a WES Full Conference Pass at any time prior to or during the Conference by calling Registration Services at 1-877-645-9324. Upgrades will be subject to the difference between the Executive Conference Fee and the Full Conference Fee in effect at the time of the requested upgrade.

Executive Conference Registrants may purchase Conference DVDs and a Companion Pass, training and Certification, subject to the conditions herein. Participation in labs is restricted to those offered on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 and Wednesday, April 28, 2010.

For avoidance of doubt, WES Executive Conference Passes do not include access to the BlackBerry Alliance Summit and/or certain ancillary events, all of which must be purchased separately.
Executive Conference Registrants are not entitled to attend the Global Channel Summit.
WES Executive Conference Passes do not qualify for the Early Bird Discount or Special Rate Discount.

BlackBerry Alliance Summit Pass:

The BlackBerry Alliance Summit Regular Pass Rate is US$299.00.

  • Early Bird Discount: BlackBerry Alliance members who register for the BlackBerry Alliance Summit by 11:59pm EST on February 19, 2010 are eligible to receive an Early Bird discount of US$150.00 off of the BlackBerry Alliance Summit Regular Pass Rate.
  • Special Rate Discount: BlackBerry Alliance members who register for the BlackBerry Alliance Summit between 12:00am EST on February 20, 2010 and 11:59 pm EST on March 26, 2010, are eligible to receive a Special Rate discount of $50.00 off the BlackBerry Alliance Summit Regular Pass Rate.

Note: Early Bird and Special Rate discounts will be forfeited if payment in full or an official purchase order document are not received by 11:59pm EST on April 19, 2010.

Companion Pass:

The companion pass rate is US$199.00.
A companion pass can only be purchased by Executive Conference Registrants and Full Conference Registrants during the registration process or at the Conference. Please note that companions are not permitted to attend Conference sessions, labs, training, or Certification exams. Companion Passes are limited to one Companion Pass per Full Conference Registrant or Executive Conference Registrant. Companions must be 18 years old or older.

  • The Companion Pass includes access to the following during the Conference:
  • Alliance Summit networking event (Sunday, April 25, 2010)
  • Welcome Reception in the Mobility Pavilion (Monday evening, April 26, 2010)
  • WES 2010 Party
  • Breakfast and lunch (Monday, April 26 – Wednesday, April 28, 2010)
  • Access to Wi-Fi® internet in the conference center

Conference Materials DVD:
The Conference DVD package fees are as follows:
Conference Proceedings DVD (WES Only): US$199
Conference Proceedings DVD (BlackBerry Alliance Summit Only): US$50
Conference Proceedings DVD (WES & Global Channel Summit Only): US$249

Full Conference Registrants and Executive Conference Registrants may opt to purchase the Conference DVD at time of registration. DVDs may also be purchased at the Conference, or online until NOVEMBER 30, 2010, subject to availability. Conference DVDs are available to Full Conference Registrants and Executive Conference Registrants only.

DVDs purchased on or before April 29, 2010 will be shipped 4 to 6 weeks after the completion of the Conference. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for delivery of DVDs purchased between April 30 and November 30, 2010.

The Conference DVD includes the following:

  • PDF files of most session presentations
  • MP3 and MP4 voice over PowerPoint recordings of most breakout sessions

BlackBerry Certification Exam:
The BlackBerry Certification Exam fee is US$75.00.
A certification exam can only be purchased by Full Conference Registrants or Executive Conference Registrants during registration process or onsite during the Conference, subject to availability.
Certification Exam registrants will receive an email from Registration Services after they complete their registration and purchase the exam to sign-up for an exam timeslot. Exam schedules are managed by a third party company, Prometric. In the event a Full Conference Registrant or Executive Conference Registrant cancels his/her WES Full Conference Pass registration, the Conference, organizers will also cancel the Full Conference Registrant's exam timeslot with Prometric. No-shows, and any exam cancellation made after 11:59pm EST on April 5, 2010 are subject to the full BlackBerry Certification Exam fee.

Hands-on Lab Pass:
The Hands-on Lab Pass fee is US$249.
Hands-on Lab Passes are available only to Full Conference Registrants and Executive Conference Registrants, and may be purchased either during the registration process or at the Conference, subject to availability, and for Executive Conference Registrants, also subject to eligible dates.

BlackBerry Training
The BlackBerry Training Pass fee is US$1275.00.
BlackBerry Training Passes are available only to Full Conference Registrants and Executive Conference Registrants, and may be purchased either during the registration process or at the Conference, subject to availability.

Discount Programs

Group Registration Program – Buy 2 passes get 1 free
The WES 2010 Group Registration Program offers three (3) passes for the price of two (2) paid WES Full Conference Passes (inclusive of applicable Early Bird and Alumni discounts) for Full Conference Registrants who are employed by the same organization. The Free Pass Registrant must be employed by the same organization as the two Full Conference Registrants relied upon to obtain the Group Free Pass (defined below).

The WES 2010 Group Registration Program expires 5:00pm EST on April 16, 2010

The "No-Show" policy stated above shall apply to the free pass ("Group Free Pass") obtained under the Group Registration Program. The person registered as the Group Free Pass holder will be subject to the Regular Conference Fee at RIM's sole discretion if the Group Free Pass holder fails to cancel his or her Group Free Pass no later than 11:59pm EST on April 5, 2010. Substitution of the individual registered as a Group Fee Pass Holder is subject to the replacement Group Pass Holder being employed by the same organization as the original group Free Pass Holder, and to the Substitutions and Changes policy above.

To participate in the Group Registrant Program, the person seeking the Group Free Pass must call 1-877-645-9324 or email the Registrar at regsvc@themeetingsourceinc.com and provide the first and last names and company names of the two (2) paid Full Conference Registrants. Registration Services will provide instructions on how to redeem the Group Free Pass. No Full Conference Registrant may participate in the Group Registration Program more than once.
Note: Sponsor, speaker, press, analyst, complimentary and half-price passes are not eligible for the Group Registration Program.

Alumni Discount
All fee-paying registrants of WES 2009 and/or the BlackBerry Developer Conference 2009 qualify for the alumni discount for WES 2010 except for those registrants who have outstanding registration fees from WES 2009 and/or BlackBerry Developer Conference 2009. For qualified registrants, the alumni discount of US$100.00 will be deducted from the current registration price by the registration system. To be recognized as alumni, and to be provided with the discount, a registrant must use the same email address he/she used to register for WES 2009 or the BlackBerry Developer Conference 2009. If registrant's email address has changed, the registrant can call Registration Services at 1-877-645-9324 to update his/her account and receive the alumni discount. Complimentary passes are not eligible for the alumni discount.

Other WES Terms and Conditions

Program Events and Presentations

Research In Motion Corporation reserves the right to make any changes to the program in its sole discretion. Every effort will be made to keep presentations and speakers as represented. However, unforeseen circumstances may result in the substitution of one or more presentation topic(s) or speaker(s).

In the event that the Conference has to be cancelled or changed due to events beyond RIM's control or due to circumstances which are not attributable to wrongful intent or gross negligence of the conference organizers, RIM and the WES organizers will not be held liable to Registrants for any damages, losses or costs incurred, including but not limited to transportation and accommodation costs. RIM is not liable for changes in program date, content, speakers or venue.

Also note that while WES organizers will make their best efforts to distribute copies of presentations to all Full Conference Registrants and Executive Conference Registrants, some speakers may not want to share their material. Under these circumstances, WES organizers will respect the wishes of the speakers and withhold copies of their presentations.

Participation

Research In Motion Corporation reserves the right to restrict participation in WES, BlackBerry Alliance Summit, Global Channel Summit and all associated ancillary events at its sole discretion.

By attending WES 2010, you agree to release and hold RIM, its subsidiaries, affiliates, agents and representatives and each of their officers, directors, agents, representatives and employees (each a "Released Party" and collectively, "Released Parties"), harmless from any and all liability, losses or damages whatsoever for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind, except bodily injury or death to the extent caused by a Released Party, arising from participation in or in connection with WES 2010.

By agreeing to these Registration Conditions, you release and discharge RIM and its service providers and their respective and their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, officers, directors, agents, representatives, and employees from any and all liability, losses or damages resulting from (i) late, lost, delayed, stolen, misdirected, incomplete, unreadable, inaccurate, garbled or unintelligible communications or affidavits, regardless of the method of transmission; (ii) telephone system, telephone or computer hardware, software or other technical or computer malfunctions, lost connections, disconnections, delays or transmission errors; (iii) data corruption, theft, destruction, unauthorized access to or alteration of registration data; and (iv) any printing, typographical, administrative or technological errors in any materials associated with the Conference; or (v) any liability for damage to any computer system resulting from participating in, or accessing or downloading information in connection with this Conference.

Consent to Use of Personal Information

By completing and submitting the information requested on the WES Event Registration form to RIM and/or its affiliated companies, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of the information by RIM or its service providers on RIM's behalf: i) to administer registration, participation and access to the WES event(s); ii) to contact you after the event(s) for event evaluation purposes and for subsequent event notifications and registrations; (iii) for RIM's internal use, including without limitation, to: (a) understand and meet your needs and preferences, (b) develop new and enhance existing services and product offerings, and (c) manage and develop RIM's business and operations; and (iv) for the purposes set out in RIM's Privacy Policy which can be found at http://www.blackberry.com/legal/privacy.shtml. Except as set out herein, RIM will not disclose your personal information for marketing or other secondary purposes, although RIM may disclose aggregated, non-identifying data relating to the event for marketing or other purposes.

Notifications to Registrants

RIM collects personal information during the registration process such as name, mailing address, email address and credit card or other payment information in order to collect registration fees and produce entrance badges for Registrants and otherwise administer registration, participation and access to the WES event(s). Independent of RIM's collection of such information, Registrants attending WES may wish to have exhibitors "scan" their entrance badges at the exhibitors' booth to collect their personal information such as name, address, phone number and email.

Registrants may access the Virtual Conference at virtual.attendwes.com (the "Virtual Conference Site"). By requesting information from third party vendors and sponsors through the Virtual Conference Site, Registrants consent to use of their personal information for the purpose of "follow-up" contact by sponsors, including but not limited to direct mail, phone calls or email messages. Once a Registrant's badge is scanned and/or Registrant provides information to third parties through the Virtual Conference Site, RIM does not have control over what the exhibitor may do with his/her personal information. RIM encourages Registrants to check with individual vendors and exhibitors regarding their specific privacy policies and purposes for collecting Registrants’ information when their badge is scanned at a booth. Any decision by Registrant to share personal information with any vendor/exhibitor is the sole responsibility of the Registrant. RIM is not responsible for information provided by Registrants to vendors and/or exhibitors at any WES Event or through the Virtual Conference Site nor is RIM liable for anything done by vendors and/or exhibitors with such information.

RIM reserves the right in its sole discretion to amend these Registration Terms & Conditions to remedy administrative, including without limitation, typographical errors.

Notification to Registrants RIM may film, photograph or audio record portions of the event, including lectures and interactions in common areas. These recordings may be archived and used for educational and commercial purposes. By attending, Registrant consents to RIM's global and perpetual use of his or her name, photograph, recorded voice and statements ("Information") in whole or in part, in all media and/or distribution formats, now known and hereafter developed for any lawful purpose, including but not limited to marketing, advertising, publicity, educational, sales, trade, and promotional purposes, with no right of approval and no right to compensation. Registrant releases and discharges RIM from and against any and all claims, damages, costs and/or other liability arising from or relating to use of the Information. RIM shall be the exclusive owner of any and all rights, title and interest, including, without limitation, copyright, electronic and distribution rights, in and to any materials containing the Information created by or on behalf of RIM, in any form.

Registrants must have reached the age of majority in their respective state, province or territory of residence in order to register for WES.

RIM is the host of WES.
